We are assured deficit spending will stimulate growth of the economy (and guarantee votes). But it also stimulates inflation. Well then, we will need another policy in Summers words, “to maximize the availability of goods at low cost to consumers and firms.” That's an easy one and citizens can do it themselves without government help. They can sustain their standard of living by buying cheaper goods, made in China (as they notice following purchase). Surely this is the way to "maximize the general welfare". These two policies should be enough to impoverish us all.
